11 Fashion Trends for Summer 2021

Summers rapidly approaching, so over the past week, I’ve been purging my closet of all of my winter clothes and this has left my closet surprisingly bare. Rather than go to the mall and pick out whatever pleases me, I thought that maybe this year I can attempt at being a little more ‘on trend.’ In my search for cute outfits for women, I found a couple of trends that stood out and hopefully you will like them too.

After scouring the internet to see what other people were wearing and what models were walking down the runway in, I noticed a couple of trends for summer 2021. The refined Parisian style seems to be really big and so are minimalist shapes and colors (nudes & whites). I also found some pieces that you can get for cheap so that you can copy the look on a budget 🙂

Adopt The Mindset Of A Minimalist

Did you know that the average person only wears 20% of their wardrobe on a regular basis? What if every single day, you opened your closet and saw only things you absolutely love so that no matter what you picked, it would make you feel confident, amazing, and unequivocally you? That is what a minimal approach to fashion is all about.

Tips for a minimalist closet
With a minimalist style, you and your closet should have one main goal: get back to basics. Much like a capsule wardrobe, minimalist pieces might be basics for some, but the wardrobe workhorses for you. Think loose t-shirts, comfortable jeans, crisp button-ups, thin dresses, and comfy shoes.

Neutral Tones (Nudes & Beiges)

Neutrals are far from boring, a beige or nude colored outfit is very elegant and dare I say it, oh so sophisticated. These colors can be the whole foundation of your wardrobe. With these hues, you’ll find that everything always matches and you can wear them over and over again and people won’t even notice. A simple approach would be to pair beige with either white or black and throw on some gold accessories to complete the look.

Dress Like A Parisian

Women around the world have tried to emulate Parisian style for years. It’s effortless, distinctive — and has me wondering if there’s something in the water. The ‘romantic, carefree Parisian’ style, is frequently modeled by bloggers of all nationalities. The clothes they wear are mostly casual-chic – lots of vintage jeans, plaid blazers, and leather boots, and while their outfits are beautiful, they aren’t flashy or overly coordinated. It’s likely you wouldn’t even notice them on the street because they’re just so effortless.

Animal Print

Throwing on a little leopard print can give any old outfit that added level of oomph needed to turn heads. It’s edgy, bold, and 100% guaranteed to give anyone a boost of confidence. Let your inner feline come out with a bold animal print this summer :):)

White Monochromatic Outfits

Nothing screams elegance and sophistication like an all-white outfit. Oh and by the way, the old fashioned rule to not wear white after Labor Day went out of style like 4 years ago.

Classic Jeans + White Tee Combo

Keep it simple with a classic blue jeans + white blouse look. My go-to outfit for when getting groceries and other domestic outings. I really love Fashion Jacksons outfit, she paired jeans and slip-ons with a blazer to give the outfit a more professional feel.

I recommend splurging on a pair of high-quality jeans that will maintain form (won’t stretch out) for years. I bought a pair of jeans from Citizens of Humanity (my favorites are in the shop the look widget below) and have worn them 2-3 times a week FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS and they look just as good as the day I bought them. Jbrand and 7forallmankind also have high-quality jeans that will last FOREVER

Silk Is In

Who said silk can only be worn at night?? I’m currently looking for the perfect silk skirt so if you know of any brands let me know in the comments 🙂

So What If It’s Summer? Black Can Be Worn Year-Round

Keeping with the theme of minimalism this summer, stick to monochromatic colors like all-black or all-white. A minimal approach to fashion, as opposed to a minimal aesthetic for fashion, is more about the attitude and thought process behind things than it is about your color palette (or lack thereof) or the specific number of items in your closet. Wearing all black is my go-to when I want to appear slimmer. It will always be flattering on every body type and wearing black jeans or leggings with heels will always give you the illusion of longer and slimmer legs.

White Button Up Tshirt

Super simple and easy to style, a white button-up shirt goes with anything. I like the way these two bloggers styled the shirt, they went for a more relaxed and casual look.

Mix in Some Plaid

I love a little plaid pant. I think a plaid pant is both playful and a little nerdy, but in a good way 🙂 Le Catch, by the way, is one of my favorite fashion bloggers. I visit her blog weekly whenever I need a little fashion inpo and she never disappoints!
