I am going to jump right in… (P.S. If you would rather watch a video with my answers head over to my Insta!)

1. why do you love to read?

Reading gives me life 🖤It calms my soul & brings me happiness even on the darkest of days. It breathes new life into my tired mama mind & inspires me to be a better me. And it simply makes me feel happy to be alive!

2. do you have a favorite place to read?

Honestly I have multiple favorite places to read… I have created little reading spots throughout my house, but if I had to choose only one it would have to be in my home library room. I love how bright and cozy it is in there with all the windows and white walls.

3. what book or series got you into reading?

The Flowers in the Attic series by V.C. Andrews… I read this series when I in 5th or 6th grade, and I was addicted. Looking back I am wondering why any V.C. Andrews books were available in the school library? However, I am thankful they were because my love of reading started back then. I devoured every single one of her books, and so many more. I feel like I haven’t stopped reading since!

4. what kind of books do you like to read?

I read a little bit of everything, but I do tend to lean towards YA novels more often than not. I especially like dystopian worlds or books with mystical creatures (think vampires, werewolves, and fairies– oh my!). I also prefer series vs. stand alone novels.

5. do you prefer paperback or hardcover books? why?

Hardcover… because they look better on my shelves!
However, I will buy both paperback and hardcover books. And sometimes I think it is actually easier to hold & read a paperback book. Also, paperback books are easier to carry around in my bag. So maybe I like them equally for completely different reasons!

6. do you read more than one book at a time?

If you would have asked me this a few years ago I would have said HELL NO! But over the last few years we have shifted into a secular Charlotte Mason method in our homeschool… which means we use living books rather than textbooks. At any given time I can have 3 to 10 books going for just my youngest son.

Also I have realized since moving into this house that I am kinda lazy… as in I don’t want to go up and down the stairs all day long to retrieve whatever book I am currently reading. So now I keep one up in my room and one (or more) down in the library.

7. what book or book series are you most excited to read this year?

I already shared this book on my Most Anticipated 2020 Book Releases last week, and I’m telling you May cannot come soon enough… The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins is being released on May 19th, and I am so excited. I absolutely love the Hunger Games series, books & movies, and I can’t wait to see what this books is all about!

8. do you reread books? why or why not?

Absolutely! Sometimes you get into a “bad book funk”, and you just need to read something you know you will love. And that is where old favorites come in! I also reread all books in a series before starting a newly released book. I read so much that I like to have a little refresher before continuing on with the storyline.

9. do you have a monthly book budget?

As of right now, no! However, I really feel like I should really incorporate this into my budget. For the longest time I stopped buying books because finances were tight or we just didn’t have the space to store more books, but we are in a better place now. I’m not sure what a reasonable budget for books would be. Any suggestions? haha

10. what question(s) would you like to ask your favorite bookstagrammers?

Hmm, I think my number one question I have for any Bookstagrammers is… How do you get so many free books? I see a lot of people reviewing books that they have been gifted, and I need a little of that in my life!
