Are you an online shopping addict? This new coupon app could help you save big! Via Shutterstock.

Ever since I started writing for BargainBabe.com I’ve become obsessed with coupons. I’ve always loved scoring a great deal (who doesn’t?!) but I didn’t realize how much you could really save with coupon apps. Just last week I scored four new pairs of heels for $80! Without coupon apps it would’ve been closer to $200.

Most coupon apps find coupons for you and then you choose which discount or promo code to use. The app Zinc Save does you one better, by automatically finding the best discounts, coupons, and deals and applying them for you at checkout.

Pros and cons of this new coupon app that saved me $120!

Pros

  • Applies discounts for five major retailers including: Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon, and Newegg.
  • Not only does Zinc find coupons for you, but it directly applies them. I’ve previously used the Honey app which finds coupon codes for online purchases. While I like Honey, I find it tedious to go through the different codes and apply them, especially since they don’t always work. The main difference between Honey and Zinc is that Zinc applies the codes for you, so there’s actually no work once you install the app.
  • The app will also check to see if another vendor has a better deal.
  • It’s very user friendly and easy to install. Installing Zinc took about two minutes! Once it’s installed you will see a new button on the checkout page of your favorite retailer. It reads “Order through Zinc Save.” If no discounts are available the button will be blue (at least that’s how it was shown Amazon). If it is yellow you can just click on the button to receive your discount and pay through your preferred method.
  • Zinc Save works with a variety of payment options including: credit or debit card, Bitcoin or Dwolla.
  • Generally discounts are between $1 and $5. While that may not seem like much, it can add up, especially if you’re a frequent online shopper.

Cons

  • The app doesn’t work with all purchases. This is because there aren’t coupons/better sales for every item.
  • The one complaint I’ve seen from reviewers is that Zinc Save only supports the Amazon Prime shipping policy for certain orders. Occasionally orders will take 5-8 days to ship. When this happens, it is clearly stated that this is the shipping time. I don’t see this as a huge issue unless you’re in hurry for an item. In that case, you might want to skip out on ordering through Zinc Saves. If you’re already paying for Amazon Prime, which recently changed for the worse, longer shipping time would be frustrating.
  • When using Zinc Save you can’t use retailer gift cards.
