Hello everyone! Can you believe we are already heading into the third week of 2019? Last year was a whirlwind, but it was a great year here on the blog! I met so many amazing bloggers and readers who have become wonderful friends. I accomplished many of my professional goals as a blogger, and I was inspired to work toward new ones in the year ahead. I shared close to 300 blog posts last year, and today I am sharing a look back at my top ten most viewed posts of 2018. The posts listed here aren’t in any particular order, except for the number one top viewed post, which as at the end of this post. Enjoy the review!
Early Spring Home Tour Part 1: Living Room and Dining Room
Last spring I incorporated lots of green, neutrals, and vintage garden style elements in my living room and dining room. I will probably do more of the same this year, with maybe a few pops of color for a fun change.
Vintage Summer Garden Tour
I enjoyed sharing my “junk” garden as part of the Vintage Summer Gardens Blog Hop. I have almost as much rusty, chippy garden junk as I do flowers and plants in my garden!
DIY Five Minute French Country Lavender Pots
These fast and easy French Country lavender peat pots made with Dollar Tree items were a big hit with my readers. I shared them around Easter, and they are perfect for gifting for Mother’s Day or any time of year. They look so pretty styled in spring and summer vignettes.
Autumn Elegance Thanksgiving Tablescape
Fall is my favorite season, and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so I really enjoyed creating this elegant Thanksgiving tablescape. I was so happy that my readers enjoyed it so much too!
An Early Summer Tour of My Old Kentucky Home
2018 marked the fifth summer in our old Kentucky home! After struggling with the decor for the last few years, this past summer things just came together. I really enjoyed working on the summer home tour post and sharing some of the changes we have made that seem to have finally made everything click. I had also just purchased my professional blogging camera and was just learning to use it, so it was a milestone post for me. This tour was definitely a reader favorite!
Beautiful Bedrooms Tour: Cottage Bedroom Reveal
Last May my husband and I finally fixed up our bedroom in cozy cottage style, just in time for the Beautiful Bedrooms Tour. Our bedroom decor is a mix of masculine and feminine, with elements of British and French cottage style. We have enjoyed having our own quiet and beautiful space to read and relax. The room still feels new to us and we just love it!
Transitioning From Summer To Fall Home Tour
I believe this post was so popular because August is such a hard time for most people when it comes to decorating, and readers are always looking for inspiration for summer-to-fall decorating. This post was very special to me because I revealed my music room makeover with so many quirky aspects of my personal vintage-eclectic style. For a brief bit of time I had been tempted to try to keep up with trends thinking that readers might like to see trendy decor more than my vintage junk, but I just never could bring myself to change my style, and I am so glad I didn’t. This post ended up with very high page views, which taught me that you can never go wrong when you stay true to your own style.
It’s Simply Christmas: Embracing the Beauty of Simple and Elegant Old World Christmas Style
This year I really simplified my Christmas decor and I just loved it! I still used lots of vintage items but I focused on creating a simple and elegant “old world” feeling throughout our home. The “less is more” tactic really paid off when it came to packing away the Christmas. I was finished in a matter of days instead of months this year!
Vintage Cottage Style Early Fall Home Tour
As all my readers know, fall is definitely my favorite time of year, and I just love decorating our home for the season! This past fall I embraced even more vintage-eclectic looks, while incorporating lots of yellow and other vivid fall colors in with my every day neutrals. I have to say it was my favorite fall decor so far, and I am delighted that my readers enjoyed the tour so much.
Easy As Magic DIY Nordic Christmas Gnomes
Perhaps it was the gnome’s magic, but this was my number one most viewed post by a landslide! As a blogger, you just never know what readers will love most and I never expected it to go over so well! Scandinavian/Nordic Gnomes were really popular last year, and the trend continues into 2019. Gnomes are just so cute, and they are super easy and inexpensive to make. This was also one of my most enjoyable crafts and blog posts of the year, so it’s really interesting that it turned out to be my top post.
I hope you enjoyed taking a look at my top 10 most viewed posts of 2018! I learned so much this year about decorating, photography, and how important it is to stay true to my own personal style. When it comes to home decor, we all love to keep things refreshed and current, but we can do that without copying trends or “keeping up with the Joneses.” Incorporating a trendy decorative accent, popular paint color or popular style of furniture is fine as long as YOU really like it. My decorating motto is “Surround yourself with the things you love” and that is the advice I always give when asked about decorating. It’s your home, after all!
I truly want to thank each and every one of you who have made this year so enjoyable. I truly hope you were inspired and blessed by your visits here. Best wishes and blessings to you in 2019, dear readers!
