Simple Farmhouse Patriotic Patio Tablescape

Hello dear friends! Can you believe the Fourth of July is just two weeks away? If you are looking for “All-American” decorating inspiration, then you have come to the right place! I am so excited to be joining my friends Chloe of Celebrate and Decorate and Andrea of Design Morsels along with several other talented bloggers today for the Patriotic Tablescape Blog Hop.  If you are coming over from My Family Thyme or if you just happened to visit today, I am happy to have you here! You will find links to each blogger’s creative patriotic tables at the end of this post.

I love decorating with red, white and blue for patriotic holidays. I normally go all out with styling a patriotic tablescape in our dining room, but I have been spending so much time outside working on a new landscaping project in the back yard and playing in my gardens that I thought it was more fitting to share a simple outdoor patriotic tablescape on the patio table this year.

Our patio has a vintage cottage-farmhouse-garden feel, so I wanted to create a simple, vintage patriotic farmhouse look for the patio tablecape.

One drawback to celebrating outdoors is that Kentucky summers are hot and humid! I had to wait until the sun starting going down a bit to be able to take photos because it has been so hot the past few days. Here is how our patio currently looks, but by next summer you might not recognize this space. Soon we will be building a new deck here, changing the siding, replacing the back door with French Doors that lead to the deck and revamping this whole area. There will be a pergola on the deck that will provide some shade which will be nice!

I loved the simplicity of using my Boho belly basket filled with a live fern as a centerpiece on my farm table for my summer home tour, so I decided to use the same centerpiece on my farmhouse patriotic patio tablescape.

To make the centerpiece more festive I added a few bottle rockets and various mini-American flags, including a couple of my DIY Upcycled Chair Spindle Farmhouse American Flags that I made last year.

Even though there is a lot of vintage holiday fun going on on the table, the whole table setting is actually quite simple. Farmhouse style jute placemats, galvanized chargers, and red striped melamine plates topped with Dollar Tree blue bandana “napkins”make up each place setting.

I found these melamine red French grain stripe plates at Target on after Christmas clearance sale last year and packed them away to use for the Fourth of July this year. The galvanized chargers were a $2 yard sale score for a set of 6. The jute placemats were also found at a yard sale, $5 for six.

My vintagey-farmhousey Uncle Sam is making his yearly summer appearance, along with some of my favorite vintage summer accents such as vintage croquet balls and various soda bottles. An olive bucket is filled with festive patriotic straws, and there’s even a pack of vintage birthday candles for lighting the fireworks to celebrate America’s birthday!

There’s “always Coca-Cola” in bottles (or bottled water) served straight from an original 1950’s Coke cooler, so no need for drinking glasses in this patriotic patio tablescape. Old-fashioned, all-natural and gluten free UTZ potato chips are also a family favorite.

When you are eating watermelon, strawberries and potato chips who needs utensils? Napkins, well, those are certainly patio picnic essentials!

Each bandana napkin is tied up with twine with a package of sparklers tucked in for the kid in all of us. Eveyone can light sparklers while I play in my own way (rearranging and restyling all my vintage summer treasures on the patio table!)

Just for extra vintage fun, I placed a couple of vintage soda bottles with bottle rockets around the table in place of real drinks. I have collected vintage soda bottles for over 20 years. This “Patio” bottle is one of my favorites for summer decorating.

I also love the summery yellow and red design on this vintage RC Cola bottle. By the way, did you notice my “new” thrifted wicker rocking chair in the background with the cute watermelon pillow? The rocker will be a perfect extra seat when we have summer company.

Thrifted Wicker Rocking Chair French Farmhouse Refresh

I recently shared how I gave the rocker a French Farmhouse refresh. I love how it turned out!

My 66 year-old dad (never a day older than 35 in spirit) will be coming in from out of town to visit for the holiday and he will probably be the first to claim the rocking chair! He has been an essential worker all through the pandemic, so he is much deserving of a vacation. We will all enjoy spending time together sitting around snacking on watermelon, strawberries, chips and cold drinks in vintage style.

Afterward we will let off some small fireworks before playing some rockin’ tunes on our guitars around the fire pit. I can’t wait!
